Day 2: Arrival to Puerto Maldonado

Peru Wayna Picchu will schedule a private transfer to take you from your hotel to the airport for your flight to Puerto Maldonado.
Upon arrival, a representative will meet you at the airport and accompany you to the port for your transfer by boat to your jungle lodge. Distances to each lodge vary, however, most lodges are located between 30-minutes and 1-hour by boat from the city. As you leave the city of Puerto Maldonado behind, youโll be enveloped in the tranquility of the Tambopata River and surrounding rainforest.

Day 3: Amazon Tour

Mornings in the jungle start early and today you will set out at dawn for your first Amazon adventure. You will have breakfast at your lodge and then head to a nearby lake to see some of the wildlife that call this part of the Amazon home. Today you may be able to spot caimans, turtles, hoatzin, wading birds, and if you are lucky, endangered giant river otters. Morning tends to be the best time of day to see a variety of wildlife and as the sun comes up, you will watch the jungle come to life.
You will return to the lodge for lunch, before setting out for another adventure with your expert naturalist guide. This afternoon will focus on flora, and your guide will walk with you through the forest, pointing out hidden jungle inhabitants and indigenous plants. Many of the plants serve a variety of purposes, and are often still used by native communities; some plants are medicinal, while others are used for construction or even for transportation.
After dinner, you will return to the jungle for a night walk. Once the sun goes down, the jungle comes to life and youโll have a chance to see nocturnal creatures. Alternatively, you can simply relax to the sounds of the jungle in your cabana hammock.

After an early breakfast at the lodge, you will return to Puerto Maldonado by boat and be transferred to the airport for your flight to Cusco.
Upon arrival at the Cusco airport, a Peru Wayna Picchu representative will meet you for the drive to the historic center. On the way to your hotel, you will see examples of Spanish colonial architecture constructed upon the remains of ancient Inca palaces and temples.
The city is located at high altitude, so you may want to spend the remainder of the day acclimatizing. Once you have adjusted to the altitude, Cusco has many options for casual and fine dining.

Day 6: Cusco City Tour
Stop At: Cusco, Cusco, Cusco Region
Spend the morning at your leisure. This is a good time to explore some of Cuscoโs less-visited attractions including the San Pedro Market, the bohemian neighborhood of San Blas, or one of many museums, such as the Museum of Pre-Colombian Art, Casa Concha, or the Choco Museum, where you can make your own chocolate from scratch.
In the afternoon, an expert guide will take you to many of the amazing archeological sites in and around the city, including the Cusco Cathedral in the Plaza de Armas and the Temple of the Sun or Qoricancha, as well as the ruins of Sacsayhuaman and Qโenko.
In the late afternoon, youโll return to your Cusco hotel. Spend the evening at your leisure enjoying the local cuisine and the hospitality of the Cusco locals.

Day 7: Sacred Valley Tour
Stop At: Sacred Valley, Sacred Valley, Cusco Region
Explore the beautiful Peruvian countryside with a full-day tour of the magical Sacred Valley. First, you will visit the town of Pisac, famous for its bustling market and beautiful Inca ruins that loom over the city. In the market you will have the opportunity to browse the beautiful handicrafts and Andean garments displayed for sale as well as local fruits, vegetables, and other natural products. While at the Pisac ruins you will be able to see ceremonial and cementary areas, as well as amazing views of Pisac and the surrounding valley from above.
Following your visit to Pisac, you will stop for lunch (not included) at a buffet restaurant offering a variety of Peruvian and international food near the town of Urubamba.
Next, you will visit the impressive fortress of Ollantaytambo. These magnificent ancient ruins provide a great vantage point over the Sacred Valley. Originally the royal estate of Emperor Pachacuti during the Inca Empire, this site later served as a stronghold for Manco Inca Yupanqui in the final resistance effort against the Spanish.
In the evening, you will be taken to your comfortable hotel in the Sacred Valley.

Day 8: Machu Picchu Tour

After breakfast at your Sacred Valley hotel, you will take a train to Machu Picchu, the hidden Inca citadel. The train ride is an attraction in itself. Much of the path winds along the rushing river and snakes past steep mountain faces, offering passengers dramatic views of the Andes landscape as it descends from high altitude plains to cloud forest. The foliage dramatically changes as the train approaches the meeting point of the Andes and the Amazon rainforest, providing visitors with a real sense of Peruโs diverse geography.
Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, the town near Machu Picchu, you will be met at the train station and accompanied to the bus station for a 20-minute ride up to the secluded citadel.

The bus ride lasts between 9 and 10 hours, and you will travel on a comfortable tourist bus that includes a stop for lunch, as well as guided visits to several ruins and tourist sites along the way.
You will arrive in Puno in the early evening and a Peru Wayna Picchu representative will meet you at the bus station and accompany you to your hotel. Day 10: Lake Titicaca Tour

Be sure to fuel up this morning, as this full-day experience will last around 9 hours. The Lake Titicaca tour takes you to two of the lakeโs most fascinating islands. The first of these are the Uros Floating Islands, which consist of approximately 32 islands constructed with many layers of Totora reeds. Using centuries-old techniques, native residents weave the islands by hand. While visiting the islands, you will be given the chance to learn about local customs, visit the reed homes, and ride on reed boats.
The tour continues to Taquile Island, located about 30 miles by boat from Puno. During the boat ride you will be able to enjoy the amazing views of Lake Titicaca and the surrounding peninsulas. Taquile Island is home to numerous pre-Inca and Inca ruins, and the island inhabitants still maintain many time-honored traditions which are reflected in their clothing and beautiful handicrafts.
You will visit the most important sites, including the main plaza and the market, as well as have opportunities to take pictures of the island landscape and surrounding lake views. Be prepared for some effort, though, due to the islandโs geography, the tour of Taquile involves some uphill walks and stairs. Taquileโs more than 500 stone steps are infamous, so be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes for this visit. Fortunately the lake views are well worth the climb, and there are many places to stop and rest as you go.
