Day 1: Day 1: Lake Naivasha
Stop At: Lake Naivasha, Naivasha Kenya
Pickup from airport or hotel. An early morning drive to Lake Naivasha, it is the highest and the most beautiful of the Rift Valley lakes. At 1910m (6200 ft), the water is fresh and the lake is fringed with dense clumps of papyrus (ancient Egyptian once used this to make paper). Kingfishers use the papyrus as a perch, herons hide in it while searching for food. Naivasha is yet another area popular for bird watching (over 400 species have been recorded). It is also a favorite weekend retreat for Nairobi residents, who come here to sail, water ski and fish. There are no crocodiles in the lake as the water is too cold for them, due to altitude but there are a number of hippos. Along the lake shore, vineyards produce grapes for the country’s fledgling wine industry.

On this day, you will be transferring from Masai Mara to Serengeti National park (through Isebania border). This transfer takes almost the whole day but during a great part of the journey (in the morning in Masai Mara and in the Afternoon in the Serengeti) you will be doing game drive as well. Afternoon game drive en-route to tented camp. Evening/night game drives are also available. Early morning safari before breakfast, to spot the animals when they are more active and also to have a fantastic sun rise in front of you. After the game drive, return to the camp for brunch, followed by a transfer to Ngorongoro. With walls 2,000 ft high and a crater floor that spreads for 102 sq. miles, the crater is a virtual Noah’s Ark, inhabited by almost every species of wildlife indigenous to East Africa including the rare black rhino. In fact, the crater has the greatest concentration of wild life in the planet. It contains a river, several swamps, from the top, looks like steam, full of flamingoes, a forest and open plains. After a stop for a picnic lunch near the hippo lake, and more wildlife viewing in the afternoon, drive up the steep road out of the crater and transfer to Manyara for overnight. You can also visit Tarangire instead of Manyara and we recommend it from June to September. Possibility to visit Oldonyo Sambu Maasai Village on the way to Manyara/Tarangire. It is very famous for its stunning bird variety. The park is also home to a large numbers of buffalos, giraffes, elephants, impalas and a Hippo lake, where large numbers of hippos usually gather. This park has become famous for the the climbing lions and the flamingos in the lake shore. The game drives are done along the shore of the lake, providing incredible views of animals in the foreground with the lake, flamingos and flat plains in the horizon. In the afternoon, transfer to Arusha. Possibility for a Bicycle Ride tour.
Alternatively, instead of going to Arusha, you can continue to Amboseli (Kenya) and do a 1 or 2 nights safari, finishing the tour back in Nairobi
